We Hire


Several Project Managers on the Helmkamp team started working as interns in college who proceeded to grow their careers and stay with the company, including President & Owner, Rob Johnes. Upon graduating from SIUE with a bachelor degree in construction management, Rob joined Helmkamp Construction through an internship in 1997 and never left. He worked as a project manager and was appointed Vice President in 2006. He later accepted the role of President in 2012 with a plan to eventually buy out and accept ownership of the family business.

We value good, honest people who are team players. From carpenters to millwrights to ironworkers, our team focuses on safety and experience. This experience is key since Helmkamp self-performs about half of all work. Our superintendents have been employed by Helmkamp for an average of 17 years. They are familiar faces to our clients and focused on having people on the jobsite who are willing to do work accurately and safely.
