Partnering
Partnering agreements have proven to be extremely beneficial in that all books are open to our clients. The open management system and the ability to provide a team with a specific type of experience allows a much tighter control on project budgets, schedules, and overall construction quality. We are very proud of our repeat business status with our customers, and the trusting partnerships and alliances, which include maintenance and capital work with companies such as: Ameren, BJC Healthcare, Dynegy, Jim’s Formal Wear, Monsanto, Solutia, and Washington University.
Preconstruction Services
From concept to beginning construction, several customers have contracted with us for these types of services. We offer budget estimates as well as “constructability” and schedule reviews. We have performed these services while working with the owners architect/engineer, or recommending an architect/engineer after the parameters have been established.
Construction Management
Helmkamp Construction Company has served our clients needs by working with project teams in the roll of construction managers. Helmkamp is staffed with personnel experienced in all phases of project development and can successfully manage projects from conception through design development, pre-construction, construction, project completion and project documentation.
Design/Build
Over the years we have developed excellent working relations with architectural firms. This allows us to select or recommend the best architect or engineer for each particular client’s needs. We recognize our strength as a general contractor lies in our construction skills. Utilizing the services of an architectural or engineering firm to perform the design phase, we are able to secure all of the expertise and resources of the design professional while retaining the advantages of the design/build contract for our client.
Cost/Schedule Management
All projects are scheduled on Helmkamp’s in-house computer system utilizing industry standard critical path management scheduling software. Project superintendents utilize short interval scheduling (three week periods) on the job. This short interval scheduling is updated and presented to management on a weekly basis. Job costs are recorded, using the Construction Specification Institute format for itemized cost coding, and are discussed along with scheduled productivity at weekly management meetings. Estimated final costs of all projects are projected on a weekly basis.
Quality Assurance / Quality Control
Producing the product on time and in compliance with the terms of the contract through error-free construction is our goal.
At Helmkamp, quality management produces quality projects. Our management commitment is to integrate quality to all levels of our performance, including approval of submittals, procurement, storage of materials and equipment, coordination of subcontractors’ activities, workmanship, and testing.
